Let’s be honest, Monday mornings can be rough. The days leading up to each Monday, especially Sunday’s, can equally dictate your coming days and weeks.

Think about it, when you wake up crabby, you tend to have crabby day and sometimes that crabby day sets the tone for the week. It does not matter what day that is either.

For most people, they reset their weeks on Sundays or Mondays. Why? Well, honestly, I don’t know but one can assume its because it is how the world tells us too. Societal norms tell us to make changes the 1st of the year, the 1st of the month, 1st of the week and even the 1st thing you do in a day.

In reality, the year, month, day or time does not make a difference. What does make a difference is that you show up. Show up for YOU. When you start showing up for you, you will eventually start showing up for those around you.

Why? When you find a happy and balanced lifestyle your energy feeds off to those around you.

When I am crabby, it’s almost guaranteed my partner, friends, and colleagues will receive my energy and duplicate it.

We need to duplicate happiness. We need to duplicate positivity.

That’s why each morning, no matter the day, I do these 3 SIMPLE things to set myself up for success each day, which leads to a successful week.

  1. Organize the night before
  2. Continue your morning routine when you hit the office
  3. Set aside “me time.”

When I wake up in the morning, my first thought is coffee. Preparing what to wear, making sure my lunch meals are prepped are done the night before. I do this because when I wake up I want to relax and not think as much.

When I get to the office in the mornings, I do my top things for the day and I do not open my emails. Emails can be overwhelming and I know once I open them, my priorities for the day are set aside, sometimes for the day.

No matter where I am, I always set aside “me” time. At home, at work, even on vacation. I know I cannot be the best version of me without taking even a few minutes a day for me. That’s why my coffee time in the morning is the most precious as it is something consistent in my life, on a daily basis, no matter where I wake up.
