Wow, I cannot even believe it is July! Can you? June was a whirlwind of emotions and frankly my stress and anxiety were through the roof. I definitely let that run me for about a week and a half and although I let my body relax I do feel I could have handled it differently.

With this being said, my goals for July have a theme – finishing things I have started (no more excuses).

Before I tell you my goals this month I want to give you my honest self-assessment on how I handled my June goals.

As a reminder my June goals were:

  1. Read one book this month
  2. Listen to a podcast daily
  3. Workout BEFORE work
  4. Try at least one new recipe a week
  5. Choose a motivation card daily

About a week into June, I finally ordered The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. This book had been recommended to me by my fit tribe for a few years so I finally decided to read it. In all honesty, the book is six chapters and a pretty easy read. Can you guess what I did with this? Procrastinate. This last weekend I realized I had to finish this book as I only had 4 chapters to go. Sunday morning, I read Chapter 3. Monday I read Chapter 4. Last night, I did not turn the TV on. I sat on my patio getting bit by mosquitoes and I read Chapters 5 & 6. While finishing this book last night and last minute I realized I can do anything I set my mind to and it’s important to me to finish what I have started. No matter how big or small it might be.

My second goal was to listen to a podcast daily and for the first half of the month I did just that. The week and a half where I let my stress and anxiety get the best of me, is where I stopped listening. I let the negative voice (negative Nancy) in my head overpower the positive voice (positive Patty).

My third goal, was a tough one. I put this as a goal because I had already been doing it. As you know, its great to add things to a list that you know are going to be easy to check off. Guess what happened though, that week and a half I allowed negative Nancy to overpower positive Patty and for the first time in a long time I went a few days without working out. I honestly believe it had nothing to do with working out or the time. I had finished a program in early June and hadn’t started a next one. Following a program takes the guess work out of it. I realized that even if I redo the same program over, just follow a program.

My last two goals I am really proud to say I conquered each of those. I tried about 5-7 new recipes and all of them were so delicious. I also continued to pull my daily motivation card, even on my worst days because it was a great way to start the morning.

Now, for the exciting part, here are my goals for July:

  1. Finish a book I started
  2. Start drinking herbal tea daily
  3. Do not turn on the TV until 8 PM on the weekdays
  4. Find a motivational quote daily
  5. Finish the 3 week program I started 2 years ago

What are your goals for July?

See you next month with my honest and transparent self-review and next month’s goals
